Prize for pulmonary specialists from the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Thomayer Hospital, Prague (Czech Republic).
On 25 October 2015, at the occasion of the CHEST 2015 congress held by the American College of Chest Physicians, the Czech physicians from the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Thomayer Hospital in Prague were awarded a financial prize. This prize will make it possible for Czech IPF specialists to carry on with the research of the so-called prognostic biomarkers for IPF, i.e. parameters which can be determined by testing the patient’s blood or the fluid acquired by bronchoalveolar lavage. The idea is that at the time of diagnosis, prognostic biomarkers might predict how the disease would later develop in a specific patient, or which specific treatment could be recommended.
